The Perfect 7-Day Tenerife Itinerary: One Week, Island Highlights

Fun Zone TenerifeOctober 26, 20269 min read

Seven days is the sweet spot for Tenerife: long enough to see the volcano, the whales, the beaches and the wild north without rushing. This itinerary is built around a base in the south (Playa Las Americas, Los Cristianos or Costa Adeje), where most visitors stay, with day trips out across the island. Shuffle the days to match the weather.

Day 1 — Settle in and the south coast. Ease into island time on the beaches of Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje, walk the promenade, and get your bearings. In the evening, kick off the trip with something memorable: axe throwing or a quiz battle at Fun Zone, minutes from the hotels.

Day 2 — Mount Teide. Spain's highest peak and a UNESCO World Heritage Site is the island's must-do. Drive up through the pine forest into the lunar Teide National Park, ride the cable car toward the summit, and if you can, stay for a stargazing tour — the skies here are among the clearest on Earth.

Day 3 — Whales and the water. The south-west is one of the world's best spots for year-round whale and dolphin watching. Take a whale-watching boat trip or a catamaran cruise with a swim stop, and spend the afternoon on the beach.

Day 4 — The wild north. Swap the resorts for green Tenerife: the colonial streets of La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz, the historic town of La Laguna, and the dramatic Anaga mountains with their laurel forest and black-sand beaches. This is the island most visitors never see — and the backdrop of our outdoor escape games, which turn these towns into the board.

Day 5 — Masca and the west. Hike the legendary Masca gorge or take a boat along the towering cliffs of Los Gigantes. It is the most jaw-dropping scenery on the island. Keep the evening relaxed back at base.

Day 6 — Your pick. Theme-park thrills at Siam Park (regularly voted the world's best water park), a quad or buggy adventure, jet ski, or a wine tour in the Tacoronte hills. Browse the options on our things to do in Tenerife page and choose your adventure.

Day 7 — Slow down. A final beach morning, some shopping, and a last good dinner. If you are travelling as a group or celebrating, finish on a high — our group celebrations set-ups (prosecco, matching tees, a leaderboard) make the last night the one everyone remembers. One week, the whole island.
